António Grilo 

Full Professor, Nova School of Science and Technology. Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and of UNIDEMI (Research Unit in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering). PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Salford, UK. Main interests include Interoperability, Digital Ecosystems and Project Management.

José Barata Oliveira

Associate Professor with Habilitation, Nova School of Science and Technology, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. PhD degree in Robotics and Integrated Manufacturing from NOVA University School of Science and Technology. Main interests include Complex Adaptive Systems, involving intelligent manufacturing devices, Multiagent, SOA based Manufacturing, and Service Robots.

Stein Ove Erikstad

Full Professor in Marine Systems Design at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU. 25 years of combined experience in the industry, including ICT solutions in shipping, and the academia, (Vice Dean for Education at the Engineering Science Faculty, NTNU, visiting scientist at the MIT), since his PhD at NTNU. Research in ship design and operation, fleet and sea transport systems design and logistics, and digital twin technologies.

Dr Jonathan Williams

Engineering degrees from Cambridge University, Imperial College (London) and Cranfield University. Chartered Engineer, and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology. Board member at the Environment Council. Founder and CEO of Marine South East, Previously Chief Executive of Marinetech South, a research management and technology transfer business following his early career in the subsea engineering sector.

Simon Powell

18-year career as a professional seafarer and 15 years developing and running UK and EU collaborative projects. Submarine warfare officer and merchant navy officer in a wide variety of ships. Conducted new build warship sea trials.  Founder and Operations Director of Marine South East, leading MSE’s interests in maritime transport, logistics, security and fuels.

Gwyn Griffiths

MBE BA MSc Hon. FSUT.  Ocean Technologist with interests in a number of businesses related to technologies and applications of autonomous marine vehicles with a deep understanding of energy sources and sensors. Specialist Associate at Marine South East.

Marco Sernaglia

Invited Deck Officer, BSc in Sea Management & Administration Sciences by the Italian Naval Academy and MSc and PhD in Nautical Engineering and Management of Maritime Transportation by the University of Oviedo (Spain). Former Loading Master for Alcoa port San Ciprian (Spain).

Augusto Carreira

Post-Doc Researcher at NOVA University School of Science and Technology, Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, in the scope of the Maritime Logistics Engineering and Management – MarLEM project. PhD in Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering (Maritime Logistics) from the University of Lisbon (School of Engineering/IST).

Nuno Cavaco

Member of the Mission Structure Digital Portugal as Coordinator of Pillar 2 (Digital Transfer of the Business Fabric). 

Alda Fundo

Consultant, specialist in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), namely, ISO 45000 family. PhD in Chemistry – new materials, in 2007. Curricular part of the Master in OHS, in 2009. Extensive experience in implementation and monitoring of OHS systems in the industry, at national and international level.

Consultant, CEO of Qualiseg, Environment Engineer and Level V Health & Safety technician. Over 15 years of experience in Management Systems Implementation, Audit and Training, in a multitude of sectors, in Portugal and abroad.

Partner at Qualiseg, graduated in Naval Engineering from Portuguese Naval Academy, Portuguese Navy Reservist Officer (Captain, OF-5). Consultant, Inspector, Internal Auditor and Trainer in the areas of Risk Management, International Ships and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Quality Management. Extensive experience in implementation of Risk management, ISPS Code and OHS systems in the industry.
